I’m not talking about the
bum-bah-dah-bum-bump-made-for-TV stereotypical
blues
I’m talking about the
sandy, heavy, mud between the toes kind of
blues
What’s it like to
hammer the ivory keys on twos and fours and curl your spine into your words and not play a song but score a life, my
life.
To feel a flat in the back of your throat and crane your neck into a weighty minor expunging the grit yet teasing the harmonious happy days when sun shines and squishy white clouds tumble carelessly by.
To close your eyes and be the uncensored, pure
natural me? What’s it like?
What color would it be?
Whatever it is, I’m pretty sure it’s not
blue
