Two years ago I started a blog for SimonDelivers (now under new ownership, CobornsDelivers) and ran a post on The Secret to Suave. Two years later, I get an email notification that someone has left a comment on that post. It reads as follows:
"I’m going to a "wine and cheese social" at an art gallery tonight. I hope to get some job networking done and don’t want to look like a goof so I thought I better look this stuff up online.
All the wine stuff I know though, because I spent 5 months in South Africa. YOU CAN GET WINE ANYWHERE. I went from only having box wine before to being able to distinguish between different flavors. The cheese stuff is kind of new to me though… so thanks!
"
So it has been confirmed. Nothing dies on the internet.

I’m disappointed. I just heard about this new Whopper app for Facebook which lets you unfriend 10 of your friends in exchange for a free whopper. Now, I don’t have that many friends, but I can certainly find enough that constantly bombard me with Mafia War updates or How Well Do You Know Your Friends quizzes to be worth a free flame broiled whopper, exactly how I want it. I talked this through with a buddy of mine and he thought it funny that a friend could be worth less than 1/10th of a Whopper. Perfect.
Sadly, though, the app has been discontinued. I don’t know if Facebook was losing too many friends or if Burger King was selling too many Whoppers, but you’ve got one gloomy customer with disposable friends.

The first time I saw a tv spot for the new Prius I thought I was watching something out of Willy Wonka’s factory. Then I came to realize that that’s probably exactly what they wanted. These new tv spots set the Prius apart from the crowd, just in their creative direction alone. A world in itself, the Prius thrives in clean, colorful environment composed entirely of happy, nature-friendly people (or oompaloompahs). Then came the spot for the sun-powered cooling system and I couldn’t help buy grin (and how sweet is the reflection of the sun in the roof of the car!). Congrats to Saatchi & Saatchi of Los Angeles for marrying a great concept to a great product. Kudos.

I came across this photoshop contest of peeling and cracking. Wow. Some of the images could use some more work, but quite a few are really quite stunning! Check it out

A close friend of mine came down with a rare form of cancer in the summer of 2008. The following Fall, he asked me to ride with him in the Lance Armstrong Challenge. I was honored. As things progressed, he asked me to design a jersey for the team. The design I settled on combines the recognizeable yellow of the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the pink of breast cancer. The bike itself is confident and exhudes movement, riding beyond the pink dots behind which form the shape of a deformed cancer cell.
The ride is coming up on August 23, and we’re still looking for donations to help support the fight against cancer! If you’d like to show your support, please donate here: http://philly09.livestrong.org/wyatt

Ample Scarlett
The wife and I just finished watching “He’s Just Not That Into You“. I know what you’re thinking, This guy’s whipped, watching chick flicks instead of Game 4 of the NBA Finals. This movie was actually recommended by a friend of mine (a guy friend, mind you). Maybe he’s whipped too. Or maybe it’s something different. Maybe all this machismo about chick flicks being kryptonite for guys is all just some big charade to hide that deep down, guys love this stuff too. And it doesn’t hurt that Scarlett Johansson had ample screen time (ah, ample Scarlett…).

McDreamy
Hate to break it to you ladies, but we are human. We do feel, and I have proof. All those fantasy stories about the perfect proposal and McDreamy–they’re not just fantasies, they happen. All the time. And we love when they do. I don’t want to spoil the movie for you, but at the end when you started welling up and you couldn’t help but feel that happy kind of love? Those are the moments women adore, but the funny thing is those are the moment guys die to give. Nothing makes us guys melt than making girls really, truly happy. Perhaps that goes away over time, but I don’t think it does. Those moments are constant. We don’t hold the door open for you because we’re working our lats, and it’s not because we were raised that way. It’s not meant to be demeaning. We do it because it’s chivalric, and what’s wrong with a little chivalry? Putting our hand on the small of your back while we walk just to put you on a pedestal. The flowers for no reason at all, at work, because we know how it feels to be everyone’s envy, if only for a minute or two. Those short, brief, forgettable moments when you light up, stand a little taller, maybe even blush. When that exterior of purpose and smarts is softened and suddenly, briefly, you’re just a girl and we’re just a guy, and that’s all there is.
Upon reflection, maybe I am whipped, but maybe I’m not. After all, I’m just a guy. Gotta run, it’s tip-off time.
