Review of Snow Leopard

Well, it’s been a week since I installed Snow Leopard, the new Mac OSX, version 10.6. I think I’ve run it through all of the necessary programs, and here’s my quick review: It’s freaking awesome.
First of all, installation on my three year old MacBook Pro was a snap, as usual. Stick it in and let it grind (oy, that was a bad one). Seriously though, just insert the disc and let it do its thing. After installation the first thing i noticed was how fast Spaces was. Previously, I’d see some lag switching spaces, but now it’s lickity-split, even back and forth between design spaces. All of the Creative Suite runs smoothly, and a few of the bugs seem to have gone away. You’ll notice that after installation, you have some more hard drive space. For an older machine like mine, this is like winning the lottery (albeit a sort of lame, not that exciting lottery).
There isn’t much of an interface change, but it never was meant to be. For $29 you get a faster interface, more hard drive space, and you can go about your business as usual. You can tell I’m not techie, I’m a designer. But for me, this upgrade is a no brainer.

New “Surprise” Mac ad – featuring Andree!
Way to go Andree! Making us old school Stroudsburg peeps proud.
What’s it like to sing the
blues
I’m not talking about the
bum-bah-dah-bum-bump-made-for-TV stereotypical
blues
I’m talking about the
sandy, heavy, mud between the toes kind of
blues
What’s it like to
hammer the ivory keys on twos and fours and curl your spine into your words and not play a song but score a life, my
life.
To feel a flat in the back of your throat and crane your neck into a weighty minor expunging the grit yet teasing the harmonious happy days when sun shines and squishy white clouds tumble carelessly by.
To close your eyes and be the uncensored, pure
natural me? What’s it like?
What color would it be?
Whatever it is, I’m pretty sure it’s not
blue

3D Drawing Tool Rhonda
This is a 3D drawing tool called Rhonda. I’m not exactly sure what this is, but it looks dang sweet. Do you think Neil Young always plays while you draw? If so, I’m getting this software. This thing is mesmerizing.

Lance is a stud.
Let’s talk about Lance Armstrong for a minute. I’m watching stage 17 of the Tour de France right now and am completely in awe. Here’s a guy who retired from cycling, for 3 and a half years, then came back this year for the Tour. Not to regain past glory, but to raise awareness for the Lance Armstrong Foundation and garner support for the fight against cancer. And, he’s riding the Tour as a volunteer, not getting paid. How many athletes do that?
Then, focusing on the tour itself, there has been some controversy about who the team leader would be: Alberto Contador or Lance. Following Contador’s incredible performance in the start of the mountains, I’m now watching Lance be the consummate teammate, pulling for Alberto all the way up the mountain. Remember, this is a guy who won 7 Tours, the best in history, riding for cancer, riding for free, and being the ideal teammate. What an idol. What an inspiration. LiveStrong.
